DEP IS OFFERING FREE RADON TESTING IN FAIRVIEW TOWNSHIP
Letters were mailed to some of the residents of Fairview Township. The American Lung Association says if you got the letter you shouldn't be concerned but you should send back the form and test your home for radon which is a clear, odorless, radioactive gas.
The Bureau of Radiation Protection of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) has awarded a grant to the American Lung Association in Pennsylvania (ALAPA) and is working with ALAPA to offer a limited number of free radon test kits to residents within these selected municipalities.
Testing is very easy to do. If you would like a free radon test kit from the ALAPA, go to www.lungradonkits.org/pa and submit your Zip Code (in the target municipality) at the bottom of the screen. While supplies last, a form will appear that you should fill out and submit. All instructions and return postage are included, as is analysis by the laboratory and reporting of results to you.
If you have any questions regarding placement of the test kit or your test results, please feel free to contact Denise Bleiler or Robert Lewis at 1.800.237.2366 or 717.783.3594. For information related to lung health, please call the American Lung Association at 1.800.586.4872 or 717.541.5864.
