FAIRVIEW TOWNSHIP BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
BUDGET MEETING
October 21, 2013 – 3:00 p.m.
MINUTES
I. CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order by the Chairman, Mr. Brown, at 3:02 p.m.
II. ROLL CALL:
PRESENT: William C. Brown, Chairman
Mario D. Pirritano, Vice Chairman
John C. Minito, Supervisor
Robert P. Stanley, Jr., Supervisor
Christopher L. Allen, Supervisor
Stephen F. Smith, Manager
Donald F. Martin, Assistant Manager
III. ANNOUNCEMENT OF EXECUTIVE SESSION:
There were no executive sessions held since the last meeting
IV. RECOGNITION OF PUBLIC
There was no public comment.
V. AGENDA ITEM:
1. Resolution No. 2013-21 – Temporary Banner, Iron Bridge – Bridge Street Celebration:
Mr. Stanley made a motion seconded by Mr. Minito to adopt Resolution 2013-21 for the installation of a temporary banner on the Iron Bridge for the New Cumberland Olde Town Association’s Bridge Street Celebration from 10/28//13 to 11/18/13 and forward same to PennDOT for approval.
Vote on the motion: All yes. The motion carried.
VI. RECESS FOR EXECUTIVE SESSION AT 3:03 p.m.
VII. RECONVENE MEETING AT 5:02 p.m.
VIII. ANNOUNCE EXECUTIVE SESSION:
Mr. Brown announced that the executive session was held to discuss a police personnel matter and to review the pending litigation on the writ of summons to the Township Supervisors filed by former Chief Hockenberry.
IX. OTHER BUSINESS:
Keith Chase, the Township’s representative on the SARAA Board gave an update to the Board.
X. REVIEW AND DISCUSSION – PRELIMINARY 2014 BUDGET OF TOWNSHIP FUNDS:
Steve Smith announced the budget at this time projects a $1 per quarter increase in the refuse bill and a $25 per quarter increase in the sewer bill. A transfer from reserve is anticipated to cover the remainder of the deficit in the Sewer Fund.
Mr. Minito announced the Recreation Board recommends increasing the fees for reserving the fields at the parks for next year. Discussion ensued.
